Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment or machinery, such as a tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, or excavator, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavation. Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Being a Heavy Equipment Operator identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols and regulations. May be responsible for scheduling minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance like cleaning and lubricating. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operator requires a high school diploma. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.     Job Purpose: Operates special heavy equipment, such as Front End Loader, Dozier, Excavators, and other mobile equipment safely and effectively to achieve the goals stated at the project's initiation by the manager overseeing the project. Incumbents must continually improve processes to effect safe, profitable, and efficient use of corporate resources.

    Duties: 
    • Prepares heavy equipment by conducting operator inspections; performing preventive maintenance checks.
    •  Operate loaders and other mobile equipment for loading-trucks, clean up, digging, and stockpiling bulk material. 
    • This position may also operate a tandem dump truck to move material.
    •  Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
    •  Keeps heavy equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, calling for repairs.
    •  Updates job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.
    •  Accomplishes operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
    •  Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. 
     
    Skills/Qualifications:
    • 1-year experience operating heavy equipment to include, Loaders, Dozers, and Excavators Flexible schedule; rotating shifts, days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
    •  High School diploma or Equivalent
    •  Valid Driver’s License
    •  Ability to qualify for TWIC Card
    • Pass Pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
