Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment or machinery, such as a tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, or excavator, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavation. Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Being a Heavy Equipment Operator identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols and regulations. May be responsible for scheduling minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance like cleaning and lubricating. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operator requires a high school diploma. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.     What you will be doing:

    DTG’s Sorter/Heavy Equipment Operator is a great opportunity. The bullet points below summarize your daily responsibilities.

    • Sort through incoming recyclable material into designated bins onsite
    • Assist co-workers with heavy items
    • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the facility and general housekeeping
    • Perform general labor duties as assigned
    • Daily Activity 75% sitting and 25% walking or standing
    • Perform Pre-Trips and Post Trips
    • Movement of material
    • Ensure the safety of company personnel and all customers as they are inside the facility by directing vehicle traffic
    • Visually screen construction and demolition debris for unacceptable materials
    • Ability to adhere to company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the company’s safety standards.
    • Understand the difference between new construction and demolition debris.
    • Identify unacceptable material on incoming loads
    • Communicate efficiently and effectively with truck drivers on where to offload incoming material
    • Direct inbound loads to the tipping floor
    • Assist co-workers with heavy items
    • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the facility and general housekeeping

    Qualifications:

    • Frequent and periodic speaking, reading (English), writing (English;
    • Bilingual(Preferred)
    • Follow Safety Protocols
    • Ability to communicate verbally with drivers team members and supervisors.
    • Experience with a skid steer, Excavators heavy and small, Wheel Loader, and Wood Grinder equipment (Preferred)
    • Be able to stand, bend, and walk, for up to 10 hours a day. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

    • Must be willing to work overtime as needed
    • Exposure to year-round weather
