Being a Helicopter Pilot determines flight routes, speed, and take off and landing times to fulfill scheduling requirements. Must stay current with federal and local flight regulations. Additionally, Helicopter Pilot requires 1,000 hours of helicopter flying time. May require an associate degree. Requires Commercial Pilot license for helicopters - CPL (H). Ensuring Passenger Safety: Prioritize the safety of passengers by adhering to all aviation regulations, operating procedures, and safety protocols. Maintain constant vigilance during flight to identify and mitigate any potential risks or hazards.
Providing Exceptional Customer Service: Welcome passengers aboard the helicopter, make them feel comfortable, and deliver a warm and informative pre-flight briefing. Throughout the tour, provide engaging commentary, answer questions, and ensure passengers have a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Operating the Helicopter: Safely operate the helicopter during takeoff, flight, and landing, showcasing skillful piloting techniques. Demonstrate a smooth and stable flight, adjusting speed and altitude as necessary to optimize passenger experience and maintain safety standards.
Navigating and Route Planning: Familiarize yourself with the designated tour routes and landmarks, providing passengers with interesting facts and stories during the flight. Plan flight paths to maximize scenic views and highlight points of interest.
Monitoring Weather Conditions: Continuously monitor weather conditions, including wind speed, visibility, and precipitation, to make informed decisions regarding flight safety. Be prepared to modify or cancel tours if weather conditions pose a risk.
Maintaining Documentation: Complete flight logs, records, and any necessary paperwork accurately and promptly. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to flight operations and passenger documentation.
Collaborating with Ground Crew: Communicate effectively with ground crew members to coordinate tour schedules, passenger logistics, and any necessary maintenance or repairs.
