Help Desk Supervisor supervises the staff and the day-to-day operations of an organization's technical help desk. Supports and coaches team members on effective methods to research, troubleshoot, and deliver solutions. Being a Help Desk Supervisor trains the team on the help desk systems, processes, tools, and procedures required to document, track, and resolve reported problems and to meet operational service levels and standards. Ensures the latest product/technical updates and policies are available and communicated to the team. Additionally, Help Desk Supervisor monitors request queue and tracks key metrics to ensure sufficient coverage and achievement of service standards. Identifies system and workflow improvements to enhance the team's efficiency. Acts as the escalation point for critical issues and facilitates a final resolution. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Help Desk Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Help Desk Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Serve in a Tier I support role executing the duties below both on site and via telephone helpdesk support.

    Software installation and support of commercial software and related upgrades

    Update solutions database with applicable resolutions

    Problem solving, hardware/software installation and configuration based on computing standards, and client support for all network and desktop

    Monitors and enforces all IT policies and procedures

    Installs and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners, and related hardware

    Maintains, upgrades and repairs PCs/laptops and Window desktop applications for all systems 

    Qualifications

    Considered a Journey Level position, 3-5 years of general IT support in Desktop, Laptop, and Software Support

    Current TS/SCI clearance required

    Current Security Certification required

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, stand and climb stairs and steps. May require walking long distance from parking to work station. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and/or trunk more than the average person, squatting/ stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, and forward motion will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with clients and public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement of up to 20 pounds. This position demands tolerance for various levels of mental stress.
