Help Desk Support Assistant jobs in Rock Island, IL

Help Desk Support Assistant responds to end-user requests for technical assistance by phone, email, or ticketing system. Troubleshoots and resolves basic computer, application, system, device, access, or performance issues. Being a Help Desk Support Assistant uses established processes and procedures to document, track, and resolve reported problems and to meet operational service levels and standards. Utilizes product information or solution database to research, troubleshoot, and deliver solutions. Additionally, Help Desk Support Assistant advises users on the methods, steps, and actions to resolve and avoid future issues and provides documentation as needed. Escalates problems to appropriate levels or teams to achieve issue resolution. May support installs or upgrades of software or devices, set up user profiles, or re-set passwords. Fulfills all service level standards for response time and quality. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Help Desk Support Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.   • We have an opportunity for a Tier 1 Help Desk Support to join our IT team. This position is the first point of contact for computer or network assistance.     Essential Functions

    • Providing timely customer service to Company associates
    • Maintaining, repairing, updating, and or replacing all Company hardware and software
    • Troubleshooting computer hardware problems
    • Installing and configuring new hardware as directed
    • Installing and updating software
    • Documenting changes through use of tickets and inventory control
    • Maintaining a current inventory of all IT hardware and software
    • Project planning, development, implementation, and evaluation
    • Preparing computer equipment for users, troubleshooting and repairing computer equipment where appropriate
    • Tracking and maintaining computer and computer-related equipment assignments
    • Training and education of end-users

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma, with two years’ experience in hardware or software support
    • Intermediate level proficiency in word processing, spread sheeting, and presentation skills
    • Maintenance and enhancement of computer skills as dictated by technological advances and Company initiatives
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information
    • Ability to respond to routine inquiries from associates, agents, policy holders, and vendors
    • Ability to solve practical simple problems where standardization exists
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently
