General Summary:
Mason Public Schools is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as the High School Principal. The successful candidate will provide positive leadership to ensure student achievement and staff development while also ensuring a safe and effective educational atmosphere. Candidates must be focused on the development of people, be collaborative, be creative, and be critical thinkers and problem solvers focused on leading Mason High School forward.
Position Qualifications:
In order to be considered, candidates must complete an assessment that will be provided via email from Humanex Ventures following submission of the position application
Possess a Master’s Degree in an education field
Possess a valid Michigan School Administrator certificate
Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting
Possess a minimum of three years of administrator experience in an educational setting
Possess a working knowledge of State and Federal programs and respective compliance requirements
Demonstrated knowledge of research based curriculum and instructional strategies
Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
Position Responsibilities:
Oversee the academic program and ensure a focus on student achievement for approximately 1,020 students
Manages, evaluates, and supervises the operation of the school building and facilities
Lead, develop, coach, and collaborate with the high school administrative team and a staff of approximately 75 members
Use data to drive decisions regarding academics, attendance, facilities, and policies
Provide leadership in the following areas: instructional and assessment programs, extracurricular programs, professional learning communities, system development, facility operation and maintenance, evaluation of programs, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures
Foster a professional school community and a culture that values all students and staff and aligns with district diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
Work with school and district improvement teams to continually lead the high school through a process of alignment with the district strategic plan
Develop school structure and academic schedules that contribute to student success
Ensures a safe school experience for all - academically, emotionally, physically, and mentally.
Collaborates with assistant principals to develop and evaluate all staff members through ongoing engagement and feedback.
Model ethical and professional behavior when working with students, staff, families, and community members
Maintains visibility in the school and community
Employ strong interpersonal and written skills to communicate regularly with a variety of audiences
Establish and maintain effective practices for the use and expenditure of building budget
Gains an understanding of the community’s social, economic, and cultural composition in order to effectively promote the success of all students
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear
Sitting for long periods of time
Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day
Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations
SALARY: 2024-2025 contract year salary range: $111,519 - $127,509. Additional $2,500 annually for possession of an Education Specialist or Doctorate degree.
WORK YEAR: 230 days, inclusive of ten paid holidays
