Required qualifications include a high school diploma and an Associates/Technical degree with coursework in accounting, finance, or related filed and considerable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The position, under supervision of the County Engineer, is responsible for performing intermediate administrative work involving and preparation and maintenance of fiscal records for Highway Department operations, and related work as apparent or assigned. Administers payroll for the department by assembling time cards and verifies coding. Tracks and reviews all reported time, enters payroll information and prepares payroll reports. Prepares monthly financial budget expenditure information, reconciles and balances all accounts with the Auditors office, accounts receivable and payable and MN Department of Finance. Compiles and prepares financial information for the annual financial report.
The Highway Accountant is a full-time, non-exempt, union position. The salary range for this position is $26.28-$36.39 per hour. Beginning wage will depend on training and experience.
