Histology Technician jobs in Columbus, MS
Histology Technician receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures and pathologist review. Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining. Being a Histology Technician maintains accurate tissue and slide records. Cleans and maintains instruments and work areas. Additionally, Histology Technician complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires an associate degree in biology, related science, or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnician certification (HT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. - High School diploma or GED.
- 5 years of experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment, or a two-year associate degree in technology plus 5 years of experience.
- Licensed Electrician.
- Experience in the following core areas: hydraulics, mechanical, electrical, PLC logic, CNC and pneumatics.
- Experience with Allen Bradly RS500/RS5000, GE Series 9030, Koyo (Direct Soft 32), Eaton.
- Must have a strong familiarity and knowledge of metal fabrication equipment and processes, to include operation of presses, shears, welding units and overhead cranes and hoisting systems.
- Must have ability to comprehend complex internal documents such as bills of materials, blue prints, machine schematics, PLC logic diagrams, electrical diagrams and work orders.
- Must have experience using electric, pneumatic, hand tools and forklifts.
- Experience using pressure gauges and precision measuring instruments.
- Must have demonstrated ability to rely upon experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals.
