Histology Technician jobs in Duluth, MN
Histology Technician receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures and pathologist review. Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining. Being a Histology Technician maintains accurate tissue and slide records. Cleans and maintains instruments and work areas. Additionally, Histology Technician complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires an associate degree in biology, related science, or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnician certification (HT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Our surgical Dermatology practice in Duluth, MN is looking for a part-time or full-time Histology Technician to join our practice.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited, to the following:
- Performing histological procedures to aid in diagnosis.
- Preparing tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis.
- Analyzing reports, test results, medical records, and examinations to diagnose condition of patients.
- Maintaining and operating laboratory equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and procedures.
- Demonstrating knowledge of quality safety and compliance programs.
- Investigating documents communicates and resolves needs problems or complaints.
- Performing area-specific support/clinical activities.
Certification from accredited histology technician program required.
