Histology Technician receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures and pathologist review. Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining. Being a Histology Technician maintains accurate tissue and slide records. Cleans and maintains instruments and work areas. Additionally, Histology Technician complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires an associate degree in biology, related science, or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnician certification (HT). We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our team (Full-Time or Part-Time). As a Histology Technician, you will play a vital role in the laboratory by preparing and analyzing tissue samples for diagnostic purposes. This position requires strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures. Responsibilities:
- Receive and process tissue specimens for analysis
- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination
- Embed tissue specimens in paraffin blocks
- Cut thin sections of tissue using a microtome
- Stain tissue sections with appropriate dyes or chemicals
- Mount stained tissue sections onto glass slides
- Perform quality control checks on prepared slides
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ordering lab supplies
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
- Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Histotechnology or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Certification as a Histology Technician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Experience working in a research laboratory or hospital setting is desirable
- Proficient in specimen collection processing techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and protocols
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

While doing Histology, the hours are flexible. Our lab is downstairs and you can create your hours.
