Histology Technician receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures and pathologist review. Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining. Being a Histology Technician maintains accurate tissue and slide records. Cleans and maintains instruments and work areas. Additionally, Histology Technician complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires an associate degree in biology, related science, or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnician certification (HT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Position Summary
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the assigned section. They plan, organize, and direct the activities of the technical and non-technical personnel to provide optimal, cost effective delivery of services according to department standards of quality, productivity and performance. Serves as a resource to identify, investigate, resolve and monitor concerns when they are identified. The laboratory supervisor acts as a liaison for all levels of staff. They collaborate with managers to assure uninterrupted workflow. They also understand and comply with the Behavior Standards and department policies, procedures and regulations.
