Histology Technician jobs in Worcester, MA
Histology Technician receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures and pathologist review. Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining. Being a Histology Technician maintains accurate tissue and slide records. Cleans and maintains instruments and work areas. Additionally, Histology Technician complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires an associate degree in biology, related science, or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnician certification (HT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Statement of Purpose:
Works under the direction of the Histology Manager, in conjunction with the Pathology Assistant, in performing a variety of histological functions in the production of surgical, cytological and autopsy slides in preparation for diagnosis. May be asked to learn and assist with the grossing functions in the absence of the Pathology Assistant.
Qualifications:
Education: Associates degree required.
Certification / License: HT (ASCP) certification preferred.
Experience: Two years experience in a Histology lab preferred.
MRMC Differentials:
Hospital differentials are: $3.50 hourly for evenings, $4.75 hourly for nights, and $2.75 hourly for weekends. All differentials are paid based per hospital policy.
