Histology Technologist performs complex histological procedures used to prepare specimens of tissue for examination and analysis by a Pathologist. Performs grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and both routine and multiple staining of samples. Being a Histology Technologist performs quality control on completed slides. Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Additionally, Histology Technologist records observations from tests. Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnologist certification (HTL). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Our group is seeking a talented histology technician for our pathology lab located in Charlotte, NC. This is a full-time position perfect for a highly motivated histology professional. The ideal candidate has experience working in a variety of histology lab settings and is familiar with manual and automated histology techniques. Must be a quick learner, flexible, a confident microtomist, have excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills. In addition, the ideal candidate must be able to work independently. Major responsibilities include:
Qualifications:
Required: Associates Degree with at least 60 science credits
Preferred: Bachelors Degree
5 Years experience as a Hitoloogy Technician
ASCP Certification
Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday, hours to be determined
Salary: Competitive, dependent upon skill set and experience.
