Histology Technologist jobs in Worcester, MA
Histology Technologist performs complex histological procedures used to prepare specimens of tissue for examination and analysis by a Pathologist. Performs grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and both routine and multiple staining of samples. Being a Histology Technologist performs quality control on completed slides. Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Additionally, Histology Technologist records observations from tests. Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnologist certification (HTL). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Statement of Purpose:
Works under the direction of the Histology Manager, in conjunction with the Pathology Assistant, in performing a variety of histological functions in the production of surgical, cytological and autopsy slides in preparation for diagnosis. May be asked to learn and assist with the grossing functions in the absence of the Pathology Assistant.
Qualifications:
Education: Associates degree required.
Certification / License: HT (ASCP) certification preferred.
Experience: Two years experience in a Histology lab preferred.
MRMC Differentials:
Hospital differentials are: $3.50 hourly for evenings, $4.75 hourly for nights, and $2.75 hourly for weekends. All differentials are paid based per hospital policy.
