Hoist and Winch Operator sets-up and operates a hoisting machinery. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Hoist and Winch Operator may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Hoist and Winch Operator relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.   • Summary of Essential Job Functions

    ·         Ensure the safety, reliability and dependability in compliance with company policies as well as OSHA regulations.

    ·         Perform routine and preventive maintenance on elevators and other equipment per the Maintenance Manual provided by Company

    ·         Troubleshoot most problems with electric brakes, motors, switches, variable frequency drives and PLC control systems with minimal assistance at job sites.

    ·         Report accurate data back to department lead for parts and recommendations for current jobs or more efficient processes.

    ·         Develop excellent relationships with customers by reviewing service sheets, communicating issues or concerns with the elevator or work area and providing follow up calls to the customer.

    ·         Respond to emergency calls both during normal business hours and after hours for service and/or repair.

    ·         Perform annual testing on lift equipment.

    ·         Use test equipment/tools of the trade to diagnose problems.

    ·         Adjust counterweights, door mechanisms and safety controls as necessary.

    ·         Check in with direct manager daily.

    ·         Respond to emails and missed phone calls in a timely manner.

    ·         Verify correct jobs for the schedule are located on System.

    ·         Verify correct tickets are used on each job.

    ·         Fill out service sheets and JSA’s on all tickets

    ·         Must provide proper receipts for expenses

    ·         Maintain vehicles (wash, vacuum) weekly

    ·         Maintain tools and parts

     

    Requirements

    ·         High School diploma or GED

    ·         High level of attention to detail

    ·         Ability to work independently from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and parts lists.

    ·         Minimal travel

    ·         Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record

    ·         Must be able to follow all safety procedures

    ·         Must provide hand tools

    ·         Must work self-sufficiently

    Optional

    ·         State and National licensing and certifications

    ·         Experience in repair and service of elevators, cranes, or other electro-mechanical equipment

    ·         Experience and/or knowledge of electrical, mechanical and PLC controls

    This job may require the following:  working inside a controlled environment and walking outside for periods of time in varying weather conditions.  Sitting for extended periods of time, working extended hours and extensive travel.  Must be able to climb, bend, twist, stoop and kneel.  Must be able to regularly lift 25-50 lbs and occasionally up to 150 lbs.  Must be able to work at heights. 

    May require exposure to manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as fire retardant clothing, respirator, safety glasses with side shields, hard hat, steel-toed boots and mandatory hearing protection.
