Must be an expert horse rider. Must be able to physically groom, mount from the ground, saddle and bridle horses, shovel, stand for up to 8 hours a day, and ride for 3-4 hours a day. Must be able to communicate about horses in an educational and clear fashion. Must have a positive attitude and enjoy both horses and people. Must be reliable and self-starting.

THE JOB:

• Assist Vet and Farrier
• Identify lame or sick horses, doctor cuts, give meds
• First employee on site every morning Monday through Friday
• Be a positive brand ambassador of Garrod Farms to the public
• Groom, saddle, and mount / dismount horses and ponies for lessons and trail rides
• Lead trail rides
• Muck stalls, barns, tack, etc. as needed.
• Mentor less experienced employees.
• Journal/record keeping for horse health (Vaccinate & worm horses/ponies as needed)
• Assign daily schedules for horses and monitor use.
• Fix broken equipment (saddles, bridles, gates, and drains)
• Back up for office (monitor phones and email

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:

• Horseback Riding: 6 years (Required)
• Horse Handling: 3 years (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

• Saratoga, CA 95070: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Work Location: In person
