All roles consist of daily work with children who have been placed at Hill Country Youth Ranch due to previous abuse or neglect.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Horse Wrangler to join our team at Big Springs Ranch for Children. As a Horse Wrangler, you will be responsible for the care and maintenance of our horses and assisting with various tasks related to the operation of our ranch.
Duties:
- Feed, water, and groom horses on a daily basis
- Clean and maintain horse stalls and pastures
- Assist with training and exercising horses
- Monitor the health and well-being of the horses
- Assist with horseback riding activities for children
- Help with general maintenance tasks around the ranch
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
- Repair and maintain fences, gates, and other structures on the ranch
- Schedule or assist in scheduling horseback riding, as directed
-Participate in staff meetings and training sessions, as directed
-Write clear, concise documentation of incidents and situations, as directed
-Reports needed facility repairs immediately to superviosr and Maintenance departments
-Demonstrate responsibility, maturity, and role modeling in all interactions with staff and children
-Follow HCYR Policies, Procedures, and Codes of Conduct
-Work assigned schedule and comply with Hill Country Youth Ranch's Timekeeping Policy
-Perform other duties as directed
Skills:
-Knowledge of general equine services
-Knowledge of recreational equipment and activities.
-Able to driver a company vehicle(s) to haul suppliese or transport residents.
-Able to teach and monitor youth in recreational activities.
- Basic math skills for measuring feed and administering medication
- Knowledge of hand tools for basic repairs and maintenance
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with horses is preferred but not required
- Must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with children
