Hospice Supervisor manages the resources, operations, and staff of hospice care programs. Works with families and patients to develop optimal care plans. Being a Hospice Supervisor coordinates the delivery of a patient/family assessment process and care plan development. Oversees interdisciplinary teams of medical doctors, nursing staff, and other care providers inside and outside the facility. Additionally, Hospice Supervisor maintains an up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations of federal, state, and regulatory bodies relative to hospice care. May require a bachelor's degree in nursing, social work or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Hospice Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Under indirect supervision the incumbent is accountable for supervising the operations of the HospiceServices department to ensure that the optimal schedules, staffing levels and payroll outcomes are ineffect and are based upon census, acuity and budget. The incumbent incorporates differences into theprovision of care and integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients andfamilies with an awareness of cost containment and time management. In addition, the incumbenttrains, evaluates and supervises staff in carrying out departmental and hospital policies and procedures.The incumbent is also responsible for other management related functions. The incumbent reports tothe Director Home Health/Hospice and has various Hospice Services clinical and clerical positionreporting to them.
Minimum qualfications:
Five (5) years recent work experience, with 2 of the last 5 years in hospice required
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or nursing required
RN:CA or MSW:CA
Effective verbal and written skill, working knowledge Microsoft Office Suite and Allscripts required
Training/experience in bereavement counseling required
Preferred qualifications
Recent management experience preferred
