Hospice Supervisor manages the resources, operations, and staff of hospice care programs. Works with families and patients to develop optimal care plans. Being a Hospice Supervisor coordinates the delivery of a patient/family assessment process and care plan development. Oversees interdisciplinary teams of medical doctors, nursing staff, and other care providers inside and outside the facility. Additionally, Hospice Supervisor maintains an up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations of federal, state, and regulatory bodies relative to hospice care. May require a bachelor's degree in nursing, social work or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Hospice Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Hospice Supervisor typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Social Worker plays a key role in Tidewell’s mission to treat the whole person by enhancing the quality of life and promoting well-being for patients, families and caregivers. Helping a patient and family prepare for the end of life is one of the most important aspects of the dying process. The Social Worker assesses a patient’s and family’s ability to cope with psychosocial, emotional, economic, environmental, and cultural factors that come with terminal illness and death.
