    We are currently looking for a Hotel Manager to manage our Inn and Beach Cottages. We are in Santa Cruz in mid-town between Capitola Village and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. A unique property that is perfect for a couples, family vacations or business travelers located close to Sunny Cove beach with 15 room/cottages.

    As a Hotel Manager you’ll be responsible for managing the operational activities of the property and following hotel guidelines to providing excellent customer service, while maximizing room revenue and occupancy. Position would require you to be on-call and work weekends.

    Key responsibilities of a Hotel Manager include but not limited to:

    • Must maintain good communications with all staff to encourage positive working relationships.
    • Directly supervise up to five staff members including: Front Desk Personnel, Housekeeping Department and Maintenance Personnel
    • Performing front desk agent duties such as registration, check out and processing room reservations for guests.
    • Process reservations requests, changes, and cancellations received by phone and/or electronically.
    • Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly finance and accounting.
    • Managing procedural aspects of the hotel’s front office, staff schedules, timecards.
    • Ensuring guests needs and concerns are responded to in a timely, professional and friendly manner with a focus on service recovery when applicable.
    • Oversee all group reservations, special guest requests, and support staff with these matters.
    • Documents and submits work orders to report items that need to be repaired and follow ups with Maintenance accordingly.
    • Monitoring cash handling, credit card totals and deposit slips to ensure accuracy with staff.
    • Control Front Desk Inventory & Rate Management
    • Confirm all staff are adhering to all safety and security policies and procedures.
    • Interviewing, training, coaching, and hiring team members for front desk, housekeeping & maintenance.
    • Managing and resolving all guest complaints and compliments in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Maintaining an up to date working knowledge of all property amenities as well as any special events at the hotel or in the area
    • Oversee and manage all other tasks as assigned. Oversees implementation of recommendations for preventative maintenance and long-term improvements of the property. The manager ensures that there is a high level of maintenance in the rooms, common areas, service areas and exterior grounds.
    • In this role, you would be working front desk five days a week as part of your role

    Job Responsibilities:

    The ideal Hotel Manager candidate will possess strong communication skills, a clear understanding of guest service in a hotel environment and demonstrate leadership abilities.

    The minimum qualifications for this position are:

    • One to three years front desk experience/Management in a hotel property of similar size and quality with previous managerial experience required.
    • Understanding of full-service hotel products and guest services
    • Must be highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible
    • Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, professional manner and exhibit good judgment.
    • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with guests and staff members using a positive, clear speaking voice and good listening skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful and flexible
    • Ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and weekends
    • Must possess computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • The ideal candidate should have management experience in the past to operate this type of property

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), preferably in Hotel/Motel Management, from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This may be waived in certain rare circumstances.
    • Strong customer service and/or previous hotel/motel experience, including operations, front desk, maintenance and staffing helpful.
    • Hotel management: 2 year (Preferred)
    • Hospitality: 1 year (Preferred)

    Mathematical Skills

    • Ability to work with general mathematical concepts.
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Good knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.
