    Position Summary:

    The Sales Manager successfully manages the group sales effort in their designated markets. This includes developing new accounts, nurturing existing accounts, implementation of sales strategies so as to achieve all goals and maximize profits for the hotels while maintaining customer satisfaction.


    Essential Functions of the job:

    • Yield potential group business with Revenue Manager and Regional Director of Sales for rates and availability
    • Meets with and maintains rapport with individuals and contacts in order to produce groups business, to include Room Sales, F & B Sales and Catering/Banquet Sales
    • Acts as a liaison with other department managers to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients
    • Answers phones and qualifies leads, communicating in an articulate manner, using correct verbiage and avoiding slang
    • Responds promptly to all emails and voice-mails
    • Prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
    • Follow-up on RFP's in a timely manner
    • Utilizes old group files to locate previous groups with potential rebooking opportunities
    • Creates proposals and contracts for group business
    • Conducts site tours for scheduled and non-scheduled prospects
    • Meets and greets all group contacts during their contracted programs
    • Prepares amenity request for all VIP clients
    • Utilizes ACT to log and track all proposed, tentative and closed group business as well as client correspondence and future follow-up
    • Attends appropriate meetings and events and maintains good rapport with area VCB's, Chambers of Commerce and other appropriate professional industry-related organizations
    • Attends trade shows as assigned by Regional Director of Sales in an attempt to generate new group business contacts and follows-up with contacts and leads that are generated
    • Ensures sales activities meet or exceed individual, team, revenue and other applicable goals outlined by Revenue Manager and Regional Director of Sales
    • Assists with implementation of sales strategies which apply to designated market segment
    • Maintains schedule for new-business solicitation calls, which are currently a minimum of one time per week, 1-hour each; schedule will be set depending on group needs
    • Attend Sales and Catering Department meetings
    • Attend hotel meetings and trainings to learn current hotel information
    • Comply fully and consistently with all the hotel conditions of employment and standards of uniform, grooming, and safety measures
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by manager


    Additional Job Duties:

    • Able to work 40-50-hour work-week as needed
    • Able to work weekends and holidays
    • Onsite work required
    • Some travel, approved by General Manager


    Education, Experience, Skills:

    • High school diploma
    • Previous sales experience preferred
    • Hotel/Resort experience highly desirable
    • Computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; previous experience with Maestro and ACT! preferred
    • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment and with the public
    • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding
    • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision
    • Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations
    • Punctuality with regular and reliable attendance
    • Ability to multitask and work in mentally demanding situations.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit continuously for the duration of the shift (eight or more hours).
    • Ability to work in stressful situations.
