House Supervisor provides oversight for multiple hospital departments in the absence of unit management. Addresses patient care, staffing, and any other issues that may arise. Being a House Supervisor supervises nurses and staff and takes administrative responsibilities and ensures adequate staffing for the oncoming shift. Handles occurrences during the shift, ensuring appropriate documentation and communication. Additionally, House Supervisor determines the issues to be referred to the Administrator on call. Collaborates with patients, family members and physicians to ensure needs are met and problems are resolved. Typically requires a bachelor's degree of nursing. Typically reports to manager or head of a unit/department. Requires certification as a registered nurse (RN). The House Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. JOB SUMMARY
Assess patients and plan care for shift needs in all departments with assistance from nursing staff and department managers. Supervision of all nursing personnel in the performance of consistently high-quality patient care. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. They must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current Wyoming licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. Prefer Bachelor of Science in nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years’ experience in the acute care of medical and surgical patients, with additional experience in ER, OB, ICU and pediatric nursing. Experience in managing personnel desired.
SKILLS
Knowledge of medical/surgical nursing principles. Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations. Must be able to assist writing policies and procedures. Must interact effectively with a wide variety of people. Excellent communication skills. Able to assume a leadership role and serve as an example to other employees. Ability to function independently and prioritize. Must be well motivated and organized.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Maintain and keep current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications. TNCC and STABLE are desired.
