Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Housekeeping Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Housekeeping Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     JOB OVERVIEW

    The Housekeeping Manager will assist the Director of Housekeeping with all Housekeeping related items to move this established hotel to the next level. This individual is responsible for the safe and efficient organization and operation of the Housekeeping departments. This position manages and oversees the department in accordance with standards and guidelines established by The Yarrow Group. This candidate will possess the necessary experience to work closely with the property’s teams to continue to strengthen the brand, grow community awareness, and execute high standards.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    1. Monitors the daily operation of the housekeeping departments.

    2. Assesses priorities and address accordingly.

    3. Enforces company and departmental policies and procedures.

    4. Assist in managing and controlling purchasing to ensure department is within budget.

    5. Overseeing an established deep cleaning schedule.

    6. Enforces The Yarrow Group standards, policies and procedures with staff.

    7. Directs and evaluates performance of staff through follow-up and training.

    8. Assist in hiring and supervising housekeeping teams.

    9. Develops training programs to ensure effective results.

    10. Establishes and ensures compliance with guest service standards.

    11. Utilizes inventories to provide high quality housekeeping of the units.

    12. Develops a positive rapport with all owners, associations and board members.

    13. Initiates and maintains effective communication within department, and between all other

          departments and associates at both properties.

    14. Ensures grooming and conduct standards for all associates are enforced.

    15. Provides feedback to management and owners on specific needs.

    16. Develops and maintains effective payable, payroll, work order and other paperwork 

          systems.

    17. Provides quality control and care of supplies and equipment.

    18. Attends weekly departmental meeting as necessary.

    19. Is aligned with the culture, values, goals and human resource programs of The Yarrow Group.

    20. Maintains a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

    21. Support environmental commitments by having the knowledge, skills and values to be a leader in the global goal of “greening” the hospitality industry.

    22. Watch for safety hazards and report them immediately to the Director of Housekeeping and General Manager.

    23. Develop and share documentation resources including but not limited to: Inspection record, QA Audits, training, and standards.

    24. Notify the Director of Housekeeping regarding any shortfalls in standards, assist in corrective measures, and follow up to ensure successful completion.

    25. Give full support and assistance to each property as well as establish professional rapport with each Housekeeping Supervisor to maintain the highest standards and efficient Housekeeping operation.

    26. Ensure that corporate specifications (i.e. minimum standards) of guest rooms and public areas are maintained, research new industries trends and innovative products and suggest implementation.

    27. Participate in all projects, renovation and programs to ensure that all factors of Housekeeping operations are considered with high standards.

    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

    1.    Be ready and willing to complete the job as necessary.

    2.    Be an example to all employees.

    3.    Educate all staff on health and safety procedures and policies.

    4.    Has thorough knowledge and understanding of Housekeeping Management.

    5.    Proven track record working with information technology systems.

    6.    Working knowledge of equipment and procedures involved in housekeeping.

    7.    Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal. Will be interfacing with guests and owners to provide efficient and effective results as related repairs and maintenance.

    8.    Maintains a close working relationship with team members and department heads from all areas of hotel operations.

    9.    One must be flexible to work long hours to ensure the smooth operation of the Housekeeping department.

    10.  This position requires the ability to communicate and make sound judgment calls when evaluating problems and situations in order to expedite the resolution. Additionally, it is necessary to take a proactive role and manage by example.

    11. Ability to speak, interpret and translate the Spanish language.
