    The Recovery Center of Maryland’s mission is to help men and women recover from mental health and substance use disorders. We are an agency committed to quality gender-responsive, trauma-informed care to clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. We are looking for a reliable LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)/Housing Director to care for clients with substance abuse and addiction disorders in a professional and considerate manner. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse or doctor.

    Housing and Resident Responsibilities
    • Train and supervise house managers. Document 1:1 supervision at least once monthly. Ensure house managers are up to date with required trainings. Provide support and guidance to house managers to help develop them in the areas of client care, customer service, professionalism, conflict management, organization, and communication. Provide performance management where necessary and implement progressive corrective action in collaboration with the Executive Director and Human Resources.
    • Monitor to ensure that daily client schedules are being followed and implemented. Where schedules are not being adhered to, inform RCOM leadership and follow up with the house manager to ensure a corrective plan is implemented, where appropriate.
    • Ensure that a clean and safe environment is maintained at each residence. Provide routine inspections to ensure: schedules, licenses, client rights, emergency exit plans, and other compliance information is posted conspicuously; the house is clean and orderly; smoke alarms and security systems are functioning properly; maintenance issues are reported and addressed with landlords and/ or property management companies; supplies are inventoried by house managers at least weekly and supply needs are reported; assist with procurement and pick up of housing supplies and food orders when needed.
    • Coordinate client orientation, helping new clients become acclimated to the program, and helping clients complete new admission milestones.
    • Ensure the consistent and accurate completion of safeguards, including: regular weekly UA screens; random room and residence searches; logging client medications at the time of use; monthly fire and emergency drills.
    • Assist with de-escalating client issues and conflicts, as well as addressing violations of housing and program expectations.
    • Assist with organization of client activities to build a sense of community and accomplishment in the program.
    Clinical Responsibilities
    • Participate on the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) clinical team, attending to medical health questions and concerns daily as they are identified by members of the team.
    • Conduct a medical assessment of all new clients in the SUD program within one week of admission or enrollment into services.
    • Conduct weekly medication reconciliations for each client in the SUD program to ensure medications are being managed properly. Ensure medications are refilled on time, either by coordinating with the pharmacy or the medical practitioner if a new medication needs to be prescribed.
    • Meet with each client at least once monthly to address any medical health or medication issues, providing education regarding the purpose of medications, contraindications, side effects, assessment of missed doses, implications of diet and exercise, risks
    associated, instructions for self-administration, expected course of medication including discontinuation and signs of diminishing efficacy, and instruction regarding other general medication questions.
    • Provide basic first aid to clients and administer injection medications when necessary.
    • Coordinate with medical health practitioners to obtain clients’ health records and schedule appointments for history and physical examinations to occur within 30 days of admission or enrollment for new clients who do not have a recent examination on file.
    • Assist with coordination of appointments with the Nurse Practitioner.
    • Provide service coordination with health facilities in the community for each client for whom a medical health need is identified by the clinical team.
    • Provide group education to clients and staff related to health and wellness, infection control, medication use and effects, and substance use at least once per month or more often as needed.
    • Provide withdrawal screening and assessment of vital signs to address client safety, as needed.
    • Instruct organization staff on the safe handling and storage of medications. Execute the medication disposal process according to organization policies.
    • Review the organization’s medical and medication policies annually and when needed as determined by the Executive Director and consult regarding updates and policy revisions.
    • Document all services, assessments, and client contacts within the day the service was rendered unless you have received a documented exception from your supervisor or the Executive Director.
    Deliverables
    • One note in the EHR per client each month, completed the same day when contact was made.
    • An email sent to the Executive Director and Vice President at the end of shift each day with summary of houses visited, protocols completed or observed, medication reconciliations completed, and client contacts made.
    • One group note documented in the EHR for each client who participates per month, completed the same day when the group was conducted.
    • One supervision note per house manager supervisee per month.
    Administrative Responsibilities - Complete Day-At-A-Glance (DAAG) reports at COB each day (DAAG Report Maryland - The Recovery Center USA).
    • Participate in clinical team case reviews and audit reviews.
    • Participate in all clinical rounds meetings, RCOM all staff meetings, RCOUSA required meetings and trainings, and all other meetings required by the Executive Director, Regional Executive Director, Human Resources department, or Quality and Compliance department unless you are given prior documented approval to be absent.
    Schedule

    • Unless otherwise requested and approved by the Executive Director, the schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 total hours per day, excluding a 30-minute to one-hour lunch break, between the hours of 10:00 am and 8:00 pm.
