Housing Director oversees all aspects of on-campus housing for students. Assigns residence hall managers to each dormitory. The purpose of this position is to inspect and determine if unit meets the housing quality standards (HQs) of the Section 8 program, and ensure the unit meets the health and safety standards required by HUD before assistance can be paid on behalf of the family and at least annually throughout the term and the assisted tenancy.
Conducts inspections by preparing monthly inspection reports; creating and distributing letters, safety information and schedules; speaking with tenants regarding any problems they might be having with the property; creating records of deficiencies and distributing copies; conducting a visual inspection; scheduling appointments for initial and re-inspections; ensuring compliance with HUD regulations; assisting with determining rent amounts; visiting sites again thirty days after the initial inspection; distributing abatement letters to those not in compliance; maintaining records; and ensuring landlords are informed of safety hazards.
Enforces rent increases and conducts rent comparable reports by compiling and presenting data; comparing assisted and non-assisted units; implementing rent increases; and correspond with landlords.
Responds to tenant complaints by conducting special inspections; informing the landlords of improvements and repairs; ensuring buildings are hospitable; and ensuring buildings have not been abandoned or are over-crowded.
Conducts monthly stops and balancing by submitting stop lists to the Department; attending personnel meetings; and pulling prior months' reports.
