Maryville Housing Authority is seeking a Leasing Assistant. The qualified person must have strong communication skills and be a team player. Below is a brief description of job duties.

• Receiving and processing applications; tenant selection and leasing; preparing and maintaining records and files. Interviews applicants for eligibility securing and verifying data provided; Fills out application forms, processes applications. Enters and updates data in the computer has a working knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Conducts annual re-examinations; Interim re-examinations, Verifies eligibility income data.
• Notifies applicants of the status of their applications; Contacts appropriate social service agencies based on tenant needs; Assist tenants with housing problems, mediates disputes as it relates to their housing environment;
• Types and files a variety of records and reports; Maintains a working knowledge of Rules and Regulations as devised by HUD and the Housing Authority, securely maintains sensitive data regarding resident income, expenses, and assets
• Serves as backup to housing receptionist. Enter excess utilities and assists all Housing Occupancy Specialists as needed.

Performs related tasks as required.

Required: Familiar with Word and Outlook. Basic computer skills; ability to operate efficiently a variety of office machines and computers, ability to analyze facts, and to sound judgment in reaching conclusions. Ability to communicate ideas effectively orally and in writing, ability to prepare and clear concise reports. Represent MHA and deal effectively with tenants, co-workers, and the general public both in and outside of an office setting. Must have a valid driver's license, pass a pre-employment drug screening, not on a sex offender registry, and have a clean criminal background within 10 years.

Preferred Skill/Knowledge: General knowledge of the principle and practices of HUD housing and social services agencies; general knowledge of current social, economic, and health problems and of human behavior and social functioning.
