Virginia Eagle Distributing Company, a leading beverage distributor with 7 locations across Virginia, is hiring for an HR Generalist. This FULL-TIME position is responsible for the daily human resources needs of three of the Virginia Eagle warehouses: Charlottesville, Lynchburg, and Pulaski. This position is based in Lynchburg, but will travel to each location to meet with employees. The HR Generalist will partner with management in talent acquisition, employee training and development and employee relations.
Job duties:- Assist in the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs.
- Assist Hiring Managers with new hires: prepare comp sheet for offer, pre-employment background checks, drug screens, physical, and onboarding.
- Process and report all new hires, terminations and job changes.
- Prepare and maintain personnel files, medical files and assist with DOT files.
- Advise company supervisors on performance management, employee disciplinary actions and termination protocols.
- Mediate supervisor/employee conflict issues
- Assist HR Team with employee training needs.
- Manage all HR aspects of terminations, including exit interviews.
- Assist HR Team with employee compensation and benefits programs.
- Manage annual and mid-year employee evaluations.
- Manage annual salary increase process.
- Post and assist with all job openings.
- Responsible for employee recruitment and orientation.
- Respond to and participate in hearings all unemployment insurance claims.
- Administer and report workers compensation and disability claims; maintain FMLA leave records.
- Maintain OSHA reports.
Minimum Requirements:- One year human resource experience, preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related required or 5 years direct HR experience in lieu of degree required. PHR certification, preferred.
- Prior experience in hiring/termination practices, compensation, OSHA workplace requirements, and workforce training management, preferred.
- Must be willing to travel regularly to VA Eagle locations under this position’s sphere of influence. Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License. Must maintain insurability to operate a motor vehicle. Must have safe driving record.
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Must be able to navigate the Internet and various propriety websites. Must be able to learn company HRIS.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to communicate utilizing the English language in verbal and written form. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Must be able to use basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Must be able to prioritize assigned work and meet changing deadlines.
- Must be available to work flexible hours.
