What you will do!
Human Resources Generalist Essential Responsibilities
- Creatively develops, implements and monitors the effectiveness of all recruitment and retention programs, including advertising, invoice verification and attending job fairs. Will also work closely with directors to identify recruitment needs and develop strategies for meeting them.
- Conducts interviews and orientations for non-exempt hourly and exempt salaried positions and assures that all necessary forms are completed and processed.
- Acts as a representative of the human resources department while assisting employees with questions and issues.
- Oversees and coordinates the effectiveness of the employee benefit programs. Monitors and verifies monthly invoices for accuracy and compensation programs in accordance with organizational objectives.
- Completes all unemployment paperwork in a timely manner as well as attends the unemployment hearings.
- Assists in the development, revision, interpretation and compliance of policies and procedures.
- Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
- Assists in the development and presentation of employee and supervisory in-services on various topics.
- Responsible for the work and progress of the college intern.
- Assists with counseling director and supervisors regarding employee relation issues, including discipline, discharge, EAP, grievances, unemployment compensation, equal employment and discrimination complaints and related matters, working conditions, morale and relationships when needed.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws including EEOC, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, etc.
- Completes statistical reports and analyses and confirms accuracy.
- Oversees and organizes special events such as Employee Recognition Dinner, Educators in the Workplace, Benefits Fair, etc.
Competencies:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality related to every aspect of the work conducted at St. Joseph’s Center.
- Must have working knowledge of employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FLSA, Civil Rights Act of 1991, Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, Drug Free Workplace Act, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADEA, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in the Human Resource field
- Valid PA Driver’s License
