Human Resources Manager develops human resources policies and programs and directs the staff in managing and implementing programs that support employee engagement, productivity, and company objectives. Manages key HR functions, including recruiting, employee/labor relations, health and safety, compensation, benefits, training, diversity, payroll, and employee records. Being a Human Resources Manager develops and delivers internal staff communications. Evaluates, selects, and manages relationships with vendors to provide supplemental HR processes and services. Position Purpose:
Oversee all aspects of the Human Resources and EHS functions for the Brunner, Medina, NY manufacturing facility. This position will also assist the Brunner, Niagara Falls, ON manufacturing facility as needed.
Essential Functions:
· Manage industrial relations activities including work rules, safety programs, attendance, and discipline.
· Establish and promote a participative environment and pro-active union avoidance program. Seek ways to expand communications and associate involvement.
· Manage employee relations matters and investigations.
· Participate as a member of the plant management team to establish operating goals and implementation plans.
· Maintain awareness of all business issues to maximize contribution to the success of the plant.
· Recruit and/or coordinate recruiting for all hourly and salaried positions.
· Maintain division policies for selecting quality candidates capable of growth within the division and corporation.
· Provide orientation to new associates, both hourly and salaried.
· Implement training and development to support individual and business goals, such as quality, safety, productivity, and customer service.
· Administer performance appraisal system and execute organizational development systems in coordination with divisional staff.
· Administer benefit programs for hourly and salaried associates.
· Administer corporate and divisional policies and procedures and meet statutory requirements.
· Develop and maintain ISO procedures for HR as required.
· Keep appropriate files and records, including payroll and attendance.
· Coordinate the plant’s safety, Workers Comp, and loss control activities.
· All other duties as assigned.
Education and Training
· Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate area required; graduate degree is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
· 7 years professional experience, 3 or more years managing a complete HR function in a manufacturing environment reporting to the plant manager.
· Hands-on experience in fostering a non-union and participative workplace.
· Significant involvement in recruiting and selecting a quality hourly and salaried workforce program.
· Experience in developing and implementing health, safety, and workers compensation programs.
· Work experience outside the HR function is a strong positive.
Physical Demands
· Frequent sitting, work at computer for extended periods of time.
· Light to moderate travel (20%).
