    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Employment Peer Support Specialist will draw upon their unique personal experiences to discuss barriers and supports, dispel myths and misconceptions, and promote Community Integrated Employment.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must have experience working in 14C setting
    • Must currently be working in a community integrated setting/competitive integrated employment

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Meet with individuals or groups working in a 14c environment to explain the benefits of community integrated employment
    • Complete documentation as required by Benchmark Human Services, AWRC, and state and federal regulations.
    • Attend all scheduled training.
    • Work with supervisor to develop a training plan for the individuals you are supporting centered around skills that are your identified strengths
    • Lead training sessions with individuals focusing on skills that are their identified need but are your identified strengths
    • Connect individuals to services and resources, if applicable, that will lead to increased employment success (benefits counselor, community resources, etc.)
    • Work with employment staff at the provider to identify individuals that would benefit from your support as they work toward obtaining employment
    • Submit documentation regarding completed activities with the individuals you are supporting
    • Communicate regularly with your direct supervisor
    • Serve as a key member of an individual's support team, if appropriate, as it relates to supporting the individual to achieve their employment goals
    • Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of all individuals.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to effectively communicate to individual or groups
    • Ability to use technology to attend training and meetings
    • Complete company specific onboarding training
    • Complete individual specific training
    • Knowledge of sub-minimum wage employment requirements
    • Possess strong leadership skills
    • Display valuable strengths allowing you to serve as a trainer and a role model to others following in your footsteps
    • Demonstrate strong communications skills, and have access to a computer or cell phone, that will allow you to interact well with your PSS program instructor, provider supervisor, and those you are supporting
    • Demonstrate strong skills in time management allowing you to coordinate and schedule PSS activities outside of your current work hours
    • Demonstrated ability to sustain employment
