Hyperbaric Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing to patients under the direction of a physician. Documents required treatment details including equipment settings, treatment duration, and patient response. Being a Hyperbaric Technician operates hyperbaric chamber and other hyperbaric support systems in accordance to all applicable safety standards and regulations. Performs cleaning of chamber and equipment according to infection control policies. Additionally, Hyperbaric Technician performs equipment checks and system maintenance. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Hyperbaric Technician works under moderate supervision. Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health with in the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers. HBO unit is a two monoplace chamber facility that serves inpatients and outpatients. This unit administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing to referred patients.

Education:
Graduate of accredited nursing program.
BSN degree preferred
Experience:
Recent experience in the care of hospitalized adults.
Two years nursing experience and/or one year minimum of critical care or emergency room experience.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
Must possess and maintain current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification or obtain certification within six (6) months from date of hire.
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
Multicultural sensitivity.
Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
