Hyperbaric Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing to patients under the direction of a physician. Documents required treatment details including equipment settings, treatment duration, and patient response. Being a Hyperbaric Technician operates hyperbaric chamber and other hyperbaric support systems in accordance to all applicable safety standards and regulations. Performs cleaning of chamber and equipment according to infection control policies. Additionally, Hyperbaric Technician performs equipment checks and system maintenance. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Hyperbaric Technician works under moderate supervision. The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for ensuring compliance in the program’s safety on behalf of the patients, company and hospital; therefore shall exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to the health and safety policy and procedures of the program. The hyperbaric technician will work closely with the safety director, management, and physician(s) in the coordination of patient care and make recommendations in procedures for the operations and maintenance of the hyperbaric program. The hyperbaric technician will resume responsibility for patient while patient is undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy
He/she shall make necessary recommendations for the departmental safety policies and incorporate new safety procedures as appropriate. He/she shall have the authority to restrict and remove any potentially hazardous supply or equipment items from hyperbaric environment.
Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
2. Certification as Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) preferred.
3. Minimum of 1 year experience in medical field.
4. Knowledge of NFPA-99, NFPA - 55 and other related hyperbaric codes, standards and organizations.
Salary Range: $22.56 - $32.03
