    The Republic Services Cybersecurity Team is committed to secure and protect Republic Services’ information anywhere, on any device, and at all times. We are seeking the brightest and most enthusiastic cybersecurity professionals to partner with in protecting Republic Services data and building out a culture of security. Members of our team demonstrate relentlessness and resourcefulness as they pave the path forward constantly working to stay ahead of the latest threats. We are looking for tenacious individuals to bring clarity to ambiguous situations by synthesizing information from multiple sources and merging it into a plan that will bring quantifiable results towards our goals.

    The Sr Manager of Data Protection will define and drive the data protection strategy and technology roadmap. This strategy encompasses all aspects of the data lifecycle management from data classification, retention, and loss prevention to encryption, backup, and destruction. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills to establish and grow relationships across the enterprise and will be required to collaborate and work closely with various functional and senior leaders (up to EVP) and key stakeholders in Information Technology, Legal, Human Resources, Communications, and Security.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversees the enterprise-wide data protection strategy.

    • Enhances baseline data protection requirements and policies, and aligns with enterprise functional strategies from Human Resources, Legal, and Information Technology.

    • Enforces relevant data protection standards and policies and ensure they are reviewed on an annual basis.

    • Ensures organizational compliance and conformance with Data protection principles.

    • Identifies and evaluates new data protection solutions and conduct proof-of-concept (POC) activities to determine best fit for enterprise.

    • Builds meaningful and measurable metrics that accurately represent program performance and key data risk indicators.

    • Works with data owners to identify critical data and data stores and deploys the necessary tools, policies, and technologies to protect that information.

    • Streamlines Data protection processes services and improve delivery and quality of those services.

    • Develops and implement data loss prevention alerting and response process to mitigate data mishandling and potential exposures.

    • Builds program level milestones with dates, owners, and critical success paths and execute to plan.

    • Partners with communications and cybersecurity training and awareness teams to develop and distribute awareness materials.

    • Continues to develop and coordinate a robust data protection technology roadmap for the enterprise.

    • Manages project and steady state operations spend.

    • Maintains knowledge of best practices and industry trends for data security and data protection.

    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Solid understanding of data protection principles and external regulations.

    • Demonstrated success in building and implementing a data protection program, strategy, and technology roadmap.

    • Experience developing a strategic vision for data protection, and familiarity with various privacy data laws and regulations.

    • Experience building and executing large scale projects and programs with proven record of delivering on critical milestones.

    • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, techniques, and concepts.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, data protection and/or project or program management.

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience successfully leading and mentoring complex teams of technologists.

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience developing and reporting on strategic and operational metrics.
