  • The position of Sr. System Administrator (or SysAdmin), requires the person to be responsible for the upkeep, configuration and reliable operation of computer peripherals, systems and servers within a multi-user, multi-platform computers and network environment that support both digital voice and data. The duties are not limited to but includes ensuring that the uptime, performance, resources and security of the servers and computers adheres to and confirms current industry standards through the use of proactive process, procedures and tools for managing, installing and upgrading of computer components and software. The IT Administrator, Senior reports to the Operations Manager.The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
    Performs network address assignment.

    Assigns routing protocols and routing table configuration.

    Assigns configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.

    Maintains network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers.

    Maintains network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways and intrusion detection systems.

    Administers servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.

    Maintains and manages virtual systems to ensure optimum operational efficiency, business continuity of the enterprise applications and user access through the use of industry standard and best practice for backups, planning and monitoring; support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and intranet systems.

    Maintains system efficiency.

    Ensures design of system allows all components to work properly together.

    Troubleshoots problems reported by users.

    Makes recommendations for future upgrades.

    Maintains network and system security.

    Analyzes and isolates issues.

    Monitors networks to ensure security and availability to specific users.

    Evaluates and modifies system's performance.

    Identifies user needs.

    Maintains integrity of the network, server deployment and security.

    Ensures network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.

    Designs, installs and configures internal and customer facing servers, network devices and firewalls.

    Proactively manages and maintains server, network and firewall systems.

    Administers and supports core Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix and VMware technologies.

    Develops and implements project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans.

    Designs and implements monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions that will make a hands-off environment.

    Defines and documents best practices and support procedures.

    Provides after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend maintenance.

    Maintains inventory and asset configuration documentation.

    Assists with hardware, firewall, telecom and software vendor evaluation, recommendation and negotiations.

    Mentors/cross trains team members on existing and new technologies.

    Carries out special tasks at Management's direction.

    Interacts with customers and staff at the technical level, as required.

    Assists the Service Desk by participating in a rotation working from the Service Desk as required.

    Provides assistance or backup coverage to assigned employees or other departments as needed.

    Performs all other related duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience

    Associates degree in Information and Systems Technology, Computer Science or closely related field required; additionally possess and maintain certificate concurrency for A , Network , Security or CCNA and MCSE; and have at least 2 years' experience holding similar positions with performing similar duties and responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
