Under the general supervision of the Operations Supervisor, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for maximizing station production in a safe and environmentally responsible manner while seeking continuous improvement.

This objective is accomplished by coordinating numerous tasks carried out by team of skilled hourly workers and communicating those actions with others.

• Ensure all company and station standards and operating procedures are met.
• This position coordinates and approves the tagging and isolation of equipment for all work groups to enable a safe continuity of repair services.
• The incumbent closely interacts with dispatching to schedule operating unit activities and keeps them informed of the generating units’ capabilities and associated risk.
• The position supervises the startup and shut down of the generating unit, including coordination of switching.
• The incumbent supervises the operation of station operating equipment, i.e., boilers, generators, auxiliaries, and relating equipment and is responsible for general housekeeping and cleanliness of the equipment.
• This position is responsible to ensure that direct reports are properly trained and is accountable for the qualification of direct reports in areas such as safety, proper operating techniques, tagging, etc.

to improve skill levels and comply with all environmental permit requirements and Operating the Units within the Environmental Permit limits at all times.

• This position is also accountable for taking appropriate action to minimize environmental excursions, contain all spills and initiate proper notification to proceed with orderly cleanup.
• The position interacts with back shift, maintenance team leaders and Water Operators and provides support that may be required in scheduling and prioritization of tasks.
• This position is the primary plant supervision on the backshifts.
• The position is required to initiate work notifications and communicate with maintenance on prioritization and scheduling.
• The incumbent coordinates the conveyance of coal to the station to ensure adequate supply is available for maximum unit generation.
• This position interfaces with the Scrubber, Water and Coal Handling Operations in real time as needed.
