    The City of Springfield's Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for an Engineer III (with option to underfill as Engineer II) in the Street and Public Grounds Operations Division.
      

    This brand new position will be responsible for pavement and asset management. This includes Capital and Private Improvement Projects and associated plan reviews. This role will have an emphasis in project management and developing project plans.


    In addition, this position will be responsible for contract management (concrete, asphalt, rejuvenation, micro-surfacing, mowing, tree removal and establishment). The asset management portion of this job will incorporate quality assurance and quality control for the division's assets.

    An example of work this position will complete is creating and administering a maintenance plan for all bridges taken care of by the City.

    Experience, Education, and Training

    Engineer III (Underfill option): 
    Experience, Education, and Training
    • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;
    AND
    • Three years of appropriate engineering experience;
    • A Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of the required work experience;
    • Engineering experience must be commensurate with assigned specialty area required for current vacancy.
     Licensing/Certification
    • Must possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License;
    • Must possess an Engineering Intern (EI) certificate from a State Board of registration for Professional Engineers.

    Engineer II (Underfill option):

    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related area;
    • AND
      • Two years of progressively responsible experience;
      • A Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of the required work experience;
      • Work experience must be commensurate with assigned specialty area for required vacancy.
    Licensing/Certification
    • Must possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License;
    • Engineering Intern (EI) certification is required.
