JOB TITLE: Accounting Specialist

POSITION INFORMATION: Full-Time Position

PROGRAM: NSSC - NASA Shared Services Center

LOCATION: Stennis Space Center, Kiln, MS

POSITION TIMING: ASAP; hiring immediately

SALARY: $17.36/hr $4.60 per hour Health & Welfare used towards ITC's benefits plan. If not used towards benefits, H&W is deposited in a 401(k) account on the employees' behalf.

ITC is recruiting for an Accounting Clerk to join the Financial Management team located at the NASA Shared Services Center. This position will be responsible for the reporting and reconciliation of NASA's Fund Balance with Treasury (FBWT) accounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Daily-download and compile appropriate accounting system and Treasury reports in the current Agency reconciliation tool resulting in a daily FBWT reconciliation;
• Daily-identify and research all Fund Balance with Treasury variances, update the current Fund Balance with Treasury Differences documents, and post to the Web;
• Periodically perform other reconciliations as needed, e.g., the Labor/DOI Labor Cost Voucher and HHS/Letter of Credit;
• Monthly, prepare and submit the FMS 224 package and Treasury Account Symbol (TAS) / Business Event Type Code (BETC) reclassifications in the proper Treasury format, including all relevant supporting documentation, and transmit the approved FMS 224;
• Compile various month end internal and external reports with supporting documentation and submit data for review and approval.
• Distribute various reports to Centers as necessary;
• Support internal and external audits and reviews by compiling documents and data.
• Perform escalation of outstanding FBWT differences

REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or GED
• 4 years mid-level financial management assistance and accounting practices and principles experience or substitute years of experience for degree
• Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
• Interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Candidate must be able to function in general office environment.
