IT Capacity Planner evaluates the organization's data processing and storage needs and develops long-term plans to meet business requirements. Implements policies for network storage system troubleshooting, updating and general maintenance. Being an IT Capacity Planner documents problems and solutions and serves as the point of contact for network capacity related issues. Allocates storage space, plans for future projects or acquisitions, reviews hardware and software configurations and makes suggestions for appropriate storage or backup models. Additionally, IT Capacity Planner may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager. To be an IT Capacity Planner typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to stakeholders for hardware, software, and network-related issues
- Secure desktop, network and server environments
- Perform server, network and cloud migrations
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems and software applications
- Set up and maintain computer networks, including LAN and VPN connections
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Collaborate with team members to resolve complex technical issues
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT support activities
- Assist in the procurement and setup of new IT equipment
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT support
- Proficiency in Windows Server administration and troubleshooting
- Experience working with Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Experience with Meraki, SonicWall and Unifi networking equipment is preferred
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line interface
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Experience with ticketing systems for issue tracking
- Ability to provide support for both Windows and Mac OS environments
Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
