IT Contracts Manager creates, writes, negotiates and reviews hardware or software licensing contracts. Works with the Business Development team in establishing agreements that reflect the interests of partners and the company. Being an IT Contracts Manager also works with legal counsel when drafting licensing agreements. Ensures contract performance and rewrites or amends as necessary. Additionally, IT Contracts Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Must have a solid understanding of web technology. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The IT Contracts Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Manager, Wholesale Power Contracts

  • The Manager, Wholesale Power Contracts, procures and administers long-term contracts for power from renewable energy providers and zero-carbon emission generators. In addition, the manager is responsible for the development of the processes associated with the procurement of these contracts, obtaining regulatory approval of these contracts and, on-going contract management

    Essential Functions:

    Develops long-term contracts with renewable (or other) generators.  These tasks include:

    • Collaborating with state agencies and regulators in developing the process for selection of projects to receive contracts.
    • Developing complex RFPs and evaluating the bids received for the selection of projects to receive contracts.
    • Negotiating and drafting complex power purchase agreements resulting from the RFP process.
    •  Testifying before regulatory bodies on the procurement process and/or approval of contracts.

    Administers power supply contracts.  These tasks include:

    • Authorizing monthly payments.
    • Complying with ISO rules.
    • Resolving contract issues that may develop.

    Develops corporate strategy associated with long term procurement of energy to meet zero carbon and / or other state policy and goals.  These tasks include:

    • Reviewing pending legislation.
    • Providing recommendations on Eversource positions.
    • Testifying and/or making presentations to regulatory or other state agencies on issues associated with energy procurement.

    Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

    Technical Knowledge/Skill: 

    Knowledge:

    • Detailed understanding of ISO-NE market rules and detail understanding or renewable energy.
    • In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements associated with energy supply in Connecticut.
    • Detailed understanding of the utility regulatory process in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and at FERC.
    • General understanding of accounting rules as they apply to long-term contracts.
    • In-depth expertise in engineering economics and financial analyses.
    • General understanding of generation system dispatch concepts and operations.

     

    Skills:

    • Highly proficient at interacting with contract counterparties, senior management and regulatory bodies.
    • Ability to analyze data and information, determine relevant factors associated with each situation, and calculate and process data in an efficient and accurate manner.
    • Ability to draw sound conclusions and act decisively.
    • Ability to develop testimony and testify effectively before regulatory bodies.
    • Expertise and experience in negotiating, writing and administering complex power purchase agreements.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with legal regarding issues that require regulatory approval or could result from or lead to litigation.
    • Highly proficient at understanding and interpreting complex power purchase agreements.
    • Proficiency in administering RFP processes leading to contract with large payments.
    • Highly proficient at engineering economic analyses, including extensive analytical skills.
    • Proficiency in managing both exempt and non-exempt employees.
    • Proficient working with spreadsheets, word processing, presentation, database and internet applications.

    Education:  

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting, or business or equivalent experience.

    Experience:

    • Ten (10) or more years of directly related experience.

    Working Conditions:

    • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
    • Must be available to travel between CT/MA/NH as necessary
