The Controller serves under the leadership of the Associate Vice President for Fiscal Affairs. The Controller is responsible for comprehensive accounting policies and procedures; and supervising, managing and developing assigned accounting department staff. He/she will review policies/procedures and ensure proper internal controls. He/she will interact with internal and external customers by researching, resolving and responding to inquiries, and disputes. Completes the month-end and fiscal-end closings and specific projects; prepare monthly financial statements and analysis; and assist in the annual audit and budget preparation. The Controller will perform other duties assigned by the supervisor within the scope of this position.
Bachelors degree in Accounting or at least five years of experience in Accounting (matriculating towards CPA) required. The successful candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices both hands on and in a supervisory capacity. Must be able to assemble, analyze and prepare reports and statements covering complex financial data; and have considerable knowledge of Jenzabar EX and its applications, Microsoft Office, and other office equipment. Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills are essential. The candidate selected must be able to provide direction and guidance to staff and customers, work with minimum supervision, give attention to detail, and cope with strict deadlines or time demands.
