Summary:

As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the accounting department and ensuring the effectiveness of financial controls and processes. Your expertise in financial management and accounting principles will contribute to the achievement of the department's goals and objectives. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide accurate and timely financial information, perform financial analysis, and support strategic decision-making. Your attention to detail, leadership skills, and ability to drive process improvements will be crucial in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain an organizational structure within the accounting department that supports the department's goals and objectives.
• Oversee the completion of bank reconciliations and monitor compliance with debt covenants.
• Establish and maintain a robust system of controls to ensure accuracy and integrity in account transactions and financial reporting.
• Reconcile and review balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and identifying any discrepancies or issues.
• Supervise or personally prepare monthly journal entries and verify their posting to general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and issue timely and complete financial statements, providing insights and analysis to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with management to review financial statements and discuss key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial trends.
• Ensure compliance with internal control requirements through regular procedure reviews and audits.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary information for the completion of audits.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with tax payment, reporting, and other tax authority requirements.
• Coordinate the preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
• Monitor cash balances and prepare cash forecasts to support effective cash management.
• Generate reports and perform analysis related to banking and financial relationships.
• Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts, reporting variances and significant issues to the General Manager of Administration.
• Stay updated on accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, providing recommendations for process improvements and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, preferably with an MBA or advanced degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, preferably within a major company or division of a large corporation.
• Strong supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and develop a team.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting/general ledger software.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and financial management practices.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
• Proven ability to prepare accurate and comprehensive financial statements and reports.
• Familiarity with internal controls, audit procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining financial accuracy and integrity.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with stakeholders at various levels.
• Strategic mindset and the ability to provide financial analysis and support for decision-making.
• Proactive approach to identifying process improvements and implementing best practices.
• Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is preferred, but not required.
