Description
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company and working closely with other members of the Management Team to ensure the financial health of the company. This includes managing the accounting department, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting operational effectiveness and improvement through the analysis of information and processes. The Controller is also responsible for payroll, budgeting, forecasting, auditing, taxes, cash flow management, insurance, and financial analysis to support the company's strategic goals.
Requirements
1. Oversee and develop department staff; assist with the selection of new staff.
2. Protect corporate assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures; recommend changes as necessary.
3. In accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements, prepare financial statements and reports and regularly review data to ensure accuracy.
4. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, including the preparation of the annual corporate and department budgets.
5. Assist other departments in the review of budget reports and in preparation of annual capital, expense, and activity budgets; provide financial guidance and support as needed.
6. Prepare financial and statistical reports and/or analysis as required.
7. Prepare and/or review required tax returns.
8. Support continuous improvement by leveraging process, system, and tool changes for increased efficiency and accuracy in asset (e.g., inventory, cash, equipment) tracking and valuation.
9. Manage the corporate cash flow position. Forecast future cash needs and make recommendations for investment of excess cash when available.
10. Identify cost reduction opportunities and provide support for business projects and processes for improving operational effectiveness and profitability.
11. Recommend benchmarks for measuring manufacturing financial and operational performance.
12. Regularly engage with all areas of the company to establish understanding of drivers of financial performance (i.e., manufacturing processes, materials utilization, equipment, products sold, etc.).
13. Manage ROI and approval process of capital equipment acquisition and facility upgrades.
14. Review customer, vendor, and professional services contracts.
15. Serve as the main point of contact for governmental agency inquiries or financial audits.
16. Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with banks, CPA firm(s), insurance agencies, and other business partners.
17. Participate as a member of the Corporate Benefits Committee; provide recommendations, cost analysis, and input to decisions.
18. Participate as a member of the Management Team; provide input for strategic planning and actively participate in and/or lead execution of initiatives.
19. Work in an extremely safe manner, following all safety rules and regulations.
