    Reports To:          Senior Director of Retail Sales

    FLSA Status:        Exempt

     

    SUMMARY 

    Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in production, distribution, and collection of materials for store and plant operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 
     

    • Assigns trucks for business use and creates truck routes for drivers. Responsible for coordinating movement of retail equipment (cages, totes, black bins) so as to have adequate supply in support of the total operation.
    • Direct involvement in handling logistics of trash removal/consolidation and recycling. 
    • Responsible for meeting all planned goals for transportation payroll budgets.
    • Communicates with salvage customers and ensures goals are met by monitoring production and employees and ensuring shipping timelines are met.
    • Inspection of machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization to include scheduled routine maintenance on equipment including vehicles, balers, compactors, and forklifts.
    • Analyzes total operations and make recommendation for operational changes where necessary and or advantageous to increase efficiency of total operation.
    • Facilitates and ensures all state required certificates of title are current and arranges for updated registrations and state inspections.
    • Responsible for scheduling the staff efficiently and ensuring payroll is on track and in line with sales. Assigns duties to workers and schedules breaks, work hours, and vacations to meet business needs. 
    • Interviews, hires, trains, coaches, and supervises workers in store policies, department procedures, and job duties.  Issues progressive discipline as necessary. Objectively evaluates all store employee performance.
    • Provides guidance and direction to the production lead.  Communicates regularly with the team and keeps them informed of pertinent information.  Ensures the Operations Manager and Director of Retail are kept abreast of appropriate matters.  
    • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for processing products. Implements plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees. Plans and revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
    • Works closely with the Retail Store Managers and East Hawaii Operations Manager in reviewing product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division. Inspects machines and equipment’s to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.  
    • Responsible for the routine consolidation of operational and production data.
    • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for production activities.
    • Confers with management to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
    •  Works with the Retail Store Manager/ Operations Manager and Safety Manager to communicate safety standards imposed by OSHA and State regulatory agencies to ensure a safe working environment. (Includes proper attire, safety and protective equipment, and practices).
    • Conducts work in a safe and responsible manner, utilizing protective clothing and/or equipment when appropriate. Complies with all safety standards.
    • Responsible for awareness of and adherence to all company and safety policies and procedures.
    • Maintains and tracks daily production goals. Monitor workers to ensure compliance with productions standards and those production goals are met.
    • Attends and actively participates in sales management meetings and other organizational meetings as required.        Holds regular, timely staff meetings to review sales management materials and discuss current store operations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    Provides direction and supervises employees in the Production area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and ensuring production procedures are adhered to and production goals are met.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or 2 years of college; plus related work experience and/or training involving supervisory level work in operational management. Combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to supervise a large staff in operational activities involving production, processing, transportation, and facility maintenance activities.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS 

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write brief routine reports and correspondence in reporting incidents and or other documentation. Ability to speak effectively and clearly in providing direction and instructions required for operational functions. 

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to interpret financial information provided in meeting and adhering to budgetary requirements.

     

    REASONING ABILITY 

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to function independently utilizing initiative and creativity.
