    Position Summary:
    The Production Planner I will develop and maintain short, mid and long-term production plans for The Gleason Works in support of a specified business or manufacturing area. The production plans will support the fulfillment of manufacturing, assembly or sales order demands. Participate in business projects and initiate process improvement suggestions.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Develop and modify short, mid and long-term production plans in SAP
    • Process MRP exception messages through SAP to create production orders for internal manufacturing and sometimes partial outsource operations
    • Work closely with internal manufacturing team to estimate completion dates and update production orders
    • Support Detailed Capacity Planning where directed
    • Level loading through scheduling, alternate routings and support of strategic outsourcing
    • Coordinate manufacturing schedules supporting the Machine Assembly Schedule and Service Parts requirements
    • Develop and manage stocking strategies in conjunction with demand management plans, including lot-sizing and safety stock levels
    • Support Engineering Change Order implementation
    • Support Machine Assembly & Qualification and Manufacturing to resolve conflicts which arise to support Service Parts demand
    • Participate in presentations of the plans to senior management and other personnel, as appropriate
    • Initiate suggestions for continuous improvement (i.e. reports / plans / workflow)
    • Utilize systems to generate data or run standard reports for decision-making purposes
    • Summarize and communicate the conclusions that can be drawn from these reports and recommend any improvements that should be considered
    • Foster a thorough understanding of metrics that reflect production’s contribution toward company goals
    • Build relationships and communicate effectively with all planning/scheduling customers (assembly floor, production floor, service parts, internal customer service and national sales groups) to generate and sustain the highest possible level of productivity
    • Continually develop competency in the areas of planning/scheduling according to the progression planning by participating in training, special projects, process improvement ideas, trade association activities, and other related informational and developmental venues
    • Process tasks as assigned through the Issue tracking Log (ITL) system.
    • Other duties as assigned by the department manager
    Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
    • Four (4) or two (2) year technical or business degree preferred. Demonstrated success in inventory management, production order process management, transactional controls in the Gleason SAP environment and understanding of the Production Planning Process Model is acceptable
    • APICS CPIM preferred
    • Application skills in a Windows environment
    • General SAP Demand Planning Module applications skills and advanced SAP PP/DD (Production Planning/Detail Scheduling) module application skills strongly preferred
    Computer Skills:
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

    • SAP Modules: PP/DD
