Responsibilities:
The JumpStart program, housed within the DSU Student Success Center, provides DSU students with targeted educational opportunities and enhanced academic experiences to give students a jump start to completing college. The Project Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month, 100% grant-funded position that provides targeted academic coaching to promote success of underserved DSU students. The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of the Student Success Center, and works closely with on and off campus constituencies and other team members in the Student Success Center.
Responsibilities:
- Manages overall day-to-day functions of the JumpStart program;
- Researches similar programs and student demographics to determine program needs/improvements;
- Develops/maintains marketing plan/materials to help ensure interest from eligible applicants;
- Works with Student Success Center and undergraduate Office of Admissions to communicate program requirements and eligibility;
- Identifies/interviews/enrolls students who meet program requirements;
- Recruits/hires/trains/supervises faculty mentors/student navigators/supplemental instructors;
- Monitors program's budget/expenses utilizing Banner/ARGOS/Excel, while in accordance with internal DSU and external fiscal operating guidelines and procedures;
- Works with the Offices of Housing and Financial Aid to assist students in transition to the University;
- Plans/coordinates/tracks month-long summer program focusing on academic success and successful transition from high school to college;
- Coordinates and/or conducts academic success workshops during summer and throughout program;
- Communicates regularly with eligible, admitted students during summer and throughout enrollment;
- Collects, tracks, measures, and reports program outcomes and objectives using quantitative and qualitative methods described in the evaluation plan;
- Prepares documents for program purchases/expenses in compliance with approved budget;
- Disseminates and reports program data to DSU constituents;
- Follows guidelines with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) as they pertain to the students' rights to privacy and accuracy and retention of academic records;
- Works collaboratively with campus partners to stay abreast of opportunities in fields/majors; and,
- Performs other duties as assigned as related to student success.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required; masters degree preferred; Experience in working with academic/career coaching for at-risk students, grants management, event planning; with experience in higher education preferred; Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, social media; with Banner experience preferred; Demonstrated record of: Strong leadership, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a changing, evolving department; Integrity and commitment to developing and maintaining the highest academic standards and working with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff; Plan and budget time wisely, be detail-oriented and motivated to take initiative; and Must be a United States citizen or have legal authorization to work in the United States.-Bachelors degree;

Salary:
12 monthCommensurate with experience, qualifications, and universitys resources.
