IT Project Coordinator jobs in Newport News, VA

In support of the NASA Information, Data, and Analytics Services (IDAS) Line, and as part of the Scientific and Technical Information (STI) team, we are in search of an experienced IT Project Manager with a solid understanding of agile methodologies for software development process fundamentals. This person must have the ability to collaborate with a team of cross-functional application developers, and functional subject matter experts across multiple disciplines, to manage IT projects.

Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

• Define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout a project’s life cycle.
• Identify and acquire necessary resources and coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party subject matter experts to deliver projects according to plan.
• Oversee the creation of project documentation, prepare reports supporting various reviews and decision points, and roll project status up to the IDAS Deputy who serves as the IDAS portfolio manager.
• Ensure timely development of project requirements, user stories, communications plans, and other essential project artifacts to establish clear, cross-cutting understanding of the project output.
• Plan, schedule, and track project timelines, sprints, and milestones using program tools.
• Ensure regular communication between stakeholders and end-users to product developers and subject matter experts to secure usability and functionality of end-products.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly task reports to Government representatives.
• Work closely with the customer, development team, functional support SMEs, and business analyst to analyze current business processes/procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
• Leverage creative problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills across a broad domain of IT related activities and needs.

Required Education and Experience:

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Proactive team player and innovator, with an execution-oriented mindset.
• Sharp problem solving, analytical and innovation skills.
• Must be able to pass a Knowledge of Microsoft 0365’ tools: TEAMS, OneNote, Planner, Forms, SharePoint, and open-source project management tools, such as Gitlab.
• Awareness, or some level of working knowledge, of cloud computing technologies, tools, and trends helpful.
• Awareness, or some level of working knowledge, of data visualization tools such as Kibana and Tableau helpful.
• High level of motivation and ability to work well autonomously.
• National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) investigation.
