    Emory Industrial Services is a growing, innovative, and eco-friendly industrial services company that specializes in cleaning and maintaining heavy industrial equipment and machinery with an environmentally friendly cleaning application called dry ice blasting.  In addition to our dry ice blasting services, Emory provides hydro-blasting, chemical circulation cleaning services, preventative maintenance services and mechanical services.  We serve customers in an array of industry sectors, including oil and gas, food and beverage, power generation, masonry restoration, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and many others.

    Job Brief

    This position requires that a person have the willingness and ability to learn, comply with client requests and understand the concepts of industrial cleaning processes and troubleshooting. The position has a 24/7, 365 day on-call requirement. Travel requirements include domestic projects. The person must have the ability to follow directions and work independently on assigned tasks and meet project performance goals.

     

    What does an Industrial Cleaning Service Technician do at Emory Industrial?

    Industrial Cleaning Service Technicians at Emory Industrial Services provide superior industrial blasting services and chemical cleaning across a broad range of customers and industries. Technicians must be comfortable performing jobs in a variety of work environments, be willing to travel, be a skilled problem-solver and be willing to acquire new skills and knowledge.

     

     Industrial Cleaning Service Technicians responsibilities include:

    • Exhibit proficiency and safe use of all tools, machinery, and equipment associated with performing a chemical cleaning, hydro-blasting, or dry-ice job.

    • Complete understanding and proper use of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for personnel protection for any task associated with a cleaning job, vessel entry and other special task assignments.

    • Possess the knowledge to determine the proper temporary inlet and outlet connection points to establish circulation paths for chemical cleaning or hydro-blasting of equipment. 

    • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the entire chemical cleaning process, including the ability to: 

      • Identify, quantify and provide details on the best application for a specific contaminant or type of fouling to complete the cleaning process, and

      • Develop a complete procedure and timeline with a step-by-step procedure to complete the cleaning task. 

    • Ability to transport machinery and other equipment.

    • Set up and tear down machines and equipment as needed on customer sites.

    • Keep all areas clean and organized on customer sites.

    • Organize and maintain the warehouse.

    • Submit time worked via means requested by Emory Industrial Service.

    Requirements:

    • Complete a federal and state criminal background check.

    • Ability to pass a drug test.

    • Have a clean MVR.

    • Either has or has the ability to obtain OSHA 10/30/HASC certifications.

    • Ability to obtain a TWIC Card.

    • Ability to learn and adhere to worksite safety policies and procedures.

    • Background in industrial manufacturing or mechanic work preferred.

    • Be reliable and have reliable transportation to the shop.

    • Flexible; hours will vary based on project needs and may include overnight shifts.

    • Must be able to work well with a team.

    • Having the ability to travel is required, up to 75% of work hours.

    • Occasionally push, pull, or lift heavy items (75 pounds); frequently lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds.

    • Climb ladders, either fixed or portable; cable or rope ladders temporarily affixed inside confined spaces.  

    • Repeatedly walk up and down multiple flights of stairs.  

    • Kneel and stand repeatedly.  

    • Occasionally remain in a prolonged squatting position at different times throughout the day.  

    • Walk or stand for prolonged periods of time throughout the day.  

    • Be exposed to corrosive chemicals and solvents for prolonged periods throughout the day.  

    • Be exposed to chemical fumes for prolonged periods throughout the day.  

    • Work around loud machinery with rotating parts, such as but not limited to: compressors, different types of pumps (pneumatic/electric/diesel driven).  

    • Work in cramped, restrictive spaces with limited room for standing, kneeling, arm motion and body placement.  

    • Work in permit-required confined spaces with small man way access and internal obstacles such as: trays, baffles, weirs, mist extractor/vane pack assemblies.  

    • Use of vibrating hand tools such as pneumatic powered impact socket guns weighing between 25 and 50 pounds.  

    • Work with hands above shoulders for prolonged periods throughout the day.  

    • Move hands and fingers with dexterity.  

    • Repeatedly grasp and squeeze hand tools and other materials such as filter elements.  

    • See both near and far accurately. 

    • Hear and understand verbal instructions in English.  

    • Able to perceive primary colors.  

    • Must be able to wear all necessary PPE while working, such as but not limited to: full body slicker/rain suits and Tyvek suits, chemical apron and other chemical protective clothing; full face respirator (air purifying respirators and supplied air) and dust masks; different types of protective gloves (rubber, nitrile, PVC, cotton, etc.); and fall protection equipment including a full-body harness.
