Industrial Hygienist jobs in Clarksville, TN
Industrial Hygienist coordinates, plans and conducts programs to educate employees about cleanliness, safety and sanitation in the workplace. Inspects facilities and work areas to prescribes corrective actions to reduce the health risks. Being an Industrial Hygienist provides advice on methods and procedures to reduce occupational health risks. Determines measures to avoid any recurrence of accidents. Additionally, Industrial Hygienist evaluates facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promotes maintenance of a sanitary working environment. Conducts training in environmental compliance and the handling of hazardous materials. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. The Industrial Hygienist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Supervisory Responsibilities:- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Sets up and operates tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts.
- Studies work orders, and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed.
- Selects, places, and secures tools.
- Prepares fixtures and feeding devices starts the machine and engages feed.
- Verifies measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers are in proper working order.
- Sets and adjusts necessary controls to regulate machines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:- Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of machines.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
- Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations such as fixtures, cutting speeds, or feed rates.
Education and Experience:- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational school diploma preferred.
- At least one year of experience as a machine operator is required.
Physical Requirements:- Must be able to work in noisy environments.
- Must be able to work in a warehouse that is not temperature controlled.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
