Additionally, Infection Control Coordinator evaluates sterilization and disinfection methods and recommends changes as necessary. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Infection Control Coordinator contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. In this role, the Infection Control Director will be responsible for providing daily operational oversight and coordination of the Department of Infection Prevention.

    Responsibilities:

    The Infection Control Director (RN) will:

    • Provide oversight and coordination of infection prevention related programs and policies
    • Collaborate with the leaders of Quality and Safety and Clinical Compliance and Regulatory Services to provide coordinated leadership and support level resources
    • Conduct an annual risk assessment and develops an annual Infection Prevention plan based on population(s) served, services provided, and analysis of surveillance data
    • Develop and implements hospital-wide infection surveillance, prevention, and control policies and procedures that adhere to nationally recognized guidelines
    • Train and educate all employees on the practical applications of IPC guidelines, policies, and procedures
    • Oversee the surveillance for hospital-acquired infections and ensures compliance with CDC/ NHSN definitions and CMS regulations
    • Perform other duties, as needed

    Qualifications:


    • NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
    • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health or Science related field
    • Bachelor's Degree in a related Science / Healthcare field
    • 3 years of experience in Infection Control
    • 3 years of experience in a management/supervisory position in Clinical / Patient Care Services or relevant Healthcare position
    • Expertise in data collection and analysis, report writing, and data presentation
    • NHSN data entry/analysis knowledge

    Desired Skills:


    • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or Science related field
    • CIC certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology
