Reviews sterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as needed. Being an Infection Control Coordinator provides related education to staff. Prepares simple cultures as needed for environmental and individual studies. Additionally, Infection Control Coordinator evaluates sterilization and disinfection methods and recommends changes as necessary. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Infection Control Coordinator contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    We are seeking a Registered Nurse Infection Control Coordinator for our facility to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care.     What you will do in this role:

    • You are responsible for identifying health and safety risk factors associated with a hospital environment which may impact illnesses or injuries associated with patients and/or healthcare workers.
    • You will assist with administering Environmental Health Programs in collaboration with all departments, Management Leadership, and designated hospital committees.
    • You will demonstrate strong knowledge set in regard to infection prevention and will be a point of contact resource for patients and/or family members, employees, and physicians.
    • You will coordinate appropriate follow-up and reporting of communicable diseases, patterns of illnesses, and injuries for both the healthcare worker and the patient as assigned by the Environmental Health Manager.
    • You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinical disciplines in making decisions regarding patient care.

    What qualification you will need:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field is required.
    • If a nurse, Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
    • Preferred Board Certification in Infection Control or degree in Public Health
    • One year recent clinical experience
    • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Office
